ARE ULTRASOUNDS SAFE?

Ultrasounds have been used since the 1950’s. To date, there have been many ongoing studies of ultrasound safety, and no negative side effects of ultrasound imaging have been found. In fact, doctors of high risk pregnancy patients tend to perform more frequent ultrasounds in order to keep an eye on the developing fetus.  However, it is your choice to have an ultrasound and we always suggest that you speak with your doctor if you have detailed questions about the process. Some studies have shown that prenatal ultrasounds  can increase maternal attachment that lead to better parent-infant interactions and healthy infant development. Now that’s wonderful!

WHAT ARE ALL THESE DIFFERENT TYPES!?

What is 2D?

Sounds waves used to create a flat black and white image of your baby (you're probably used to seeing this style of ultrasound at your doctors appointment.)

What is 3D?

Sound waves used to create a three dimensional still/static image of your baby and have an orange/brown sepia colored tone.

What is 4D?

Sound waves used to create a three dimensional action video of your baby and have an orange/brown sepia colored tone.

What is HD/5D?

Using advanced software; the ultrasound images appear more lifelike with higher clarity and detail.  Photos and videos and have a flesh like color tone.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY ULTRASOUND?

Week 4-11: Please try to arrive to your appointment with a semi-full bladder.  *Nothing uncomfortable

Week 12-40: VERY IMPORTANT! Every day the week prior to your visit, drink 10 to12, 8oz glasses of water. The day of your appointment, drink water through the day. We suggest a sugary or caffeinated drink, if you don’t have sugar/caffeine issues, about 10-15 minutes prior to your scan with us. Both of these are highly recommended techniques on getting the most from your ultrasound. *You do not need a full bladder. Avoiding large meals directly prior to scan is also recommended.

HOW SOON CAN I FIND OUT THE GENDER OF MY BABY?

There are now TWO ways to find gender:

  1. Our new Sneak Peek Early DNA blood test is for six weeks and up hold a 99.9% accuracy rate.

  2. ULTRASOUND: We can tell you the baby’s gender as early as 13 weeks! We hold a 99.9% accuracy rate. Due to various circumstances, sometimes baby does not cooperate to show gender during the appointment. If this does indeed happen, we do *include a 2nd visit free of charge to be used in a week or two, to try again. Our techs are highly experienced and pride themselves on accuracy. (*week 13 and later only) It is not recommended to have your reveal planned the exact same day as your scan in case baby does not perform and show off gender.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR A 4D/HD ULTRASOUND?

You’re welcome to visit anytime during your pregnancy. Heartbeat checks can be done starting at week 6+. Gender verification is recommended at week 13 and later, and facial photos are recommended for week 26 and later as their face is starting to fill out with the cute baby fat! We scan babies all the way to delivery. We even have a special package for very late term moms called “Late Peek” for use week 36 and later.

CAN YOU TELL ME MY DUE DATE AND IF THERE IS ANYTHING ABNORMAL WITH MY BABY?

We offer non-medical, non-diagnostic ultrasounds. Our services provide you an opportunity to bond with your baby and are intended for the enjoyment of you and your family. We stress the importance of regular prenatal care and would rather have you see a physician before you see us. But in the event of needing help to pinpoint conception dates, due date and weight, we can help. If we do happen to see some sort of abnormality we will take it up with your OB.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE / MEDICAID?

No, as these types of scans are non-medical and non-diagnostic, we are unable to bill insurance companies. We do accept cash, credit, and debit cards. Zelle, CashApp, Venmo, AFTERPAY and CareCredit are also available for payments; please contact us before your appointment if you have questions.

DO YOU ACCEPT WALK INS?

No, we are open by appointment only. Call ahead for an appointment that fits within your schedule. We offer weekday, weekend, and some evenings as late as 9:00 pm on certain days.

WHY ARE MY PICTURES NOT AS CLEAR AS MY FRIEND'S?

Image quality depends on many things, including current level of amniotic fluid, placenta position, position of the baby, and maternal body content (the amount of tissue between the probe and the baby). While we strive to provide you with the best possible pictures of your baby, these variables might affect the quality of your pictures.

IF I DO NOT GET ANY GOOD PICTURES OR ANY PICTURES OF A FACE, DO I GET A REFUND?

If we are unable to obtain a picture of baby, we do not offer a refund. We try our very best to do what’s necessary to get shots. If the baby is in a non-photographical position (i.e. face down towards the mother’s spine, hands covering face or gender), with some of our packages we will invite you back for ONE complimentary rescan at no additional charge, at the technician's discretion. Complimentary rescans need to be booked and performed within 2 weeks of original ultrasound. If you still want to try for better photos after your complimentary rescan, we can do an additional rescan for $29, within two weeks of the previous ultrasound.  This rescan is also subject to the technician's discretion.

MAY I BRING GUESTS TO THIS APPOINTMENT?

Absolutely! You are welcome up to 15 family members and/or friends to accompany you through your appointment. We also welcome children, though we do recommend that you bring someone to help with very small children. Many parents cannot enjoy seeing the new baby while wrestling a crying toddler, or trying to entertain a preschooler etc. It can be a wonderful time of bonding for all involved.
